The Record Company: Rockwood Music Hall 2016
“We are The Record Company. We play rock 'n’ roll.” That's how lead singer and guitarist Chris Vos kicked off the band’s recent FUV Live performance and then the music spoke for itself.
Blending driving bass and drums with an electrifying guitar sound, the trio opened its live show (and its new album, Give It Back To You) with the powerful “Off the Ground” and never let up. It’s the kind of pure rock ‘n’ roll music that some might describe as “they don’t make stuff like that anymore,” while others will simply get drawn into this modern approach to a classic sound.
The Record Company is Vos, bassist Alex Stiff, and drummer Marc Cazorla who got together in Los Angeles when they realized they shared a passion for rock, roots and blues music. Finding initial success after their songs were used in televison, film and commercials, they’ve recently been touring non-stop in support of their debut album—including an upcoming stop at Mountain Jam and in front of an enthusiastic crowd of FUV Marquee Members. I was excited to host their show at New York City’s Rockwood Music Hall.
