Question of the Day: Say Wha?
Let's remember Cafe Wha founder Manny Roth, who has died at 95, with classic club moments you may have witnessed (or wished you did!)
Manny Roth, founder of the Greenwich Village club Cafe Wha has died at 95. Manny, who was also David Lee Roth's uncle, opened the MacDougal Street basement venue in 1959. By 1961, 20 year old Bob Dylan was knocking at the door. Jimi Hendrix, Bruce Springsteen, Woody Allen and Richard Pryor would soon follow. Countless would-be stars gave it their best shot on the tiny stage, and even the re-formed Van Halen jammed at the storied venue.
Leave your suggestions below and we'll spin a set after 9AM.
