A Preview of SXSW 2012

This week: Team FUV heads to SXSW, and Rita Houston has your preview.

Austin, Texas becomes the international center of the music industry for a week each March during South by Southwest. Thousands of bands, songwriters, DJ's, bloggers, writers, publicists, lawyers and record labels, gather to network, eat tacos and run around like teenagers. I've been going for 20 years now, and with the ongoing changes in the music business, it's become more vital than ever.

Team FUV will be there sending back live concerts, videos, photos and tweets throughout the conference. You'll no doubt discover some new artists along the way with us.

Here are a few of the bands I'm most excited to see -- Kids These Days, and Polica both from the midwest, Michael Kiwanuka and Daughter from the UK, Robert Glasper from Texas, and this guy from Jersey named Springsteen. I'll also be at the movie premeire of Big Easy Express, the documentary of the train tour I rode with Mumford and Sons.

Our coverage will include live broadcasts from Stubb's with Andrew Bird, Alabama Shakes and Sharon Van Etten. Plus our FUV showcase starring Punch Brothers, Shearwater and Gary Clark, Jr. Alisa Ali and I will be set up doing interviews at the groovy Hotel San Jose where we expect to sit down with Brendan Benson, Cory Chisel, and filmaker Emmett Malloy and others (and hopefully John C Reilly!).

Hope you'll join us on the radio, online or on Twitter - this week - for SXSW 2012. Check out our full broadcast schedule.
