Police, Bronx Churches to Host Gun Buyback

More than 33,000 people are killed by guns each year. Now, a program will resurface in the Bronx in hopes to lower that number.

This Saturday, two Bronx churches, Fellowship Tabernacle and Evangelical Garifuna Church, will host a Gun Buyback.  Disctrict Attorney Darcel Clark says the program allows anyone to turn in hand guns and assault rifles that still work.  Participants can get up to 200 dollars for turning in a gun.  Law enforcement will be checking the guns to see if their serial numbers are linked to any crimes.

The buybacks will take place 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 6 at Fellowship Tabernacle, 1234B East Gun Hill Road, and Evangelical Garifuna Church, 344 Brook Avenue, Bronx, NY10454.
