Planets

Mercury Transit

Today a rare celestial event happens. Mercury will pass across the face of the sun between about 7:12 am and 2:42 pm EDT. Mercury is too small to see without magnification, but it can be seen with a telescope or binoculars. These must be outfitted with a solar filter as you can't safely look at the sun directly. To mark the occasion, let's have your favorite songs mentioning any of the planets. We'll put them in rotation after 9 am.

Here's what we played:

Paul McCartney & Wings "Venus and Mars"
Paul Weller "Saturns Patterns"

The B-52's "Planet Claire"
Shocking Blue "Venus"
The 5th Dimension "Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In"
