NYC Hospital Holds Exhibition Feauturing Work Done By 9/11 Victims

Twelve years after 9/11, many New Yorkers still feel the effects of the tragic day.  A therapy program at Bellevue Hospital is using art to help heal those who are suffering from medical and mental health conditions related to 9/11.

It is part of a larger iniative to provide 9/11-specific healthcare citywide.  The hospital's "Shifting Clouds" exhibition showcases artwork done by members of the program.  Artist Ronalda Nicholas, who suffers from a respiratory illness stemming from exposure to ground zero debris, said art has a therapeutic power.  

"[The art therapy] was like cathartic.  You know that phrase about beauty coming out of ashes?  I felt like that's what this represented,"  Nicholas said. 

The exhibit will be displayed through Friday, and again on September 16th through 18th.
