New Jersey School Bounces Back from Superstorm Sandy

School's music program is now back on its feet.

Exactly a year ago today, the music department of a New Jersey school was devestated by Superstorm Sandy

The storm surge destroyed all of the band equipment at the Union Beach Memorial School. The impact brought the school's K through 8 music program to a halt for several months. However, the school bounced back by raising money and collecting donated instruments. Rosemary Conte was one of the people who helped lead the charge. She said the community went above and beyond.

She added "In fact there was one man who was giving a 50th birthday party for his wife and instead of gifts they were asking people to donate checks made out to Memorial School music deartment".

Conte says instrument and money donations came from all over the country, including Washington State and Oregon.
