The Mountain Goats at WFUV

John Darnielle is one of my favorite songwriters so I was thrilled to be able to sit down with him once again to talk about the new record from the Mountain Goats. Goths represents another chapter in the evolution of the band including more synths, choral harmonies and the first ever writing credit for someone in the band other than JD.

We talked about the part Peter Hughes wrote and sang on the new record, the absence of guitar and what sparked that idea, the influence of doo-wop and lots more. In addition to that conversation, listen to and watch one-of-a-kind arrangements of live songs with Darnielle and multi-instrumentalist Matt Douglas. Great stuff!
