Morning Brief: March 13

Tough day for New York City college basketball. The Fordham Rams got knocked out of the A10 tournament at Barclays Center, and the St. John’s Red Storm got walloped by Providence, 74-57 and got knocked from the Big East tournament. While St. John’s is still expected to make the NCAA tournament, Fordham’s season is all but guaranteed over. Same for the scrappy St. Francis Terriers, who came oh-so-close to getting their first ever NCAA tournament bid. A bright spot for the city? A few days ago, the Bronx’s Manhattan College Jaspers beat Iona to qualify for the NCAA men’s basketball tournament, starting next week.
