Mike Doughty: 2016

Mike Doughty returned to WFUV recently with a brand new album called The Heart Watches While The Brain Burns. Doughty, who is the former frontman of the band Soul Coughing, got the title of his new album from his friend, the comedian and writer Marc Maron, who said the phrase during one of his "WTF" podcasts.

This album is the followup to 2014’s Stellar Motel, and the songs were a collaboration between Doughty, who now lives in Memphis, and his longtime collaborator, the Queens producer Good Goose.

As you’ll hear in our conversation, both Doughty and I feel this new album is one of his best!
