Michael Blake is running to become the next Mayor of New York City. He’s a long-time political organizer with experience both in the New York State Assembly in Albany and in Washington, D.C., at the Obama White House. Blake made a splash at the first mayoral primary debate.

While positioned on the side of the stage, he pushed into the conversation, styling himself as an alternative to Andrew Cuomo for Black and Latino voters. In a pointed critique of the former governor, Blake said that “the people who don’t feel safe are the young women, mothers, and grandmothers around Andrew Cuomo.”

Blake has promised to try and end credit checks for home purchases, and pushed back against the current mayor’s stance on escalating Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrests and raids.

I hope you enjoy my conversation with Michael Blake.
