Matthew Sweet made an indelible mark on rock with his third album, the 1991 masterpiece, Girlfriend. Since then, Sweet has remained at the forefront of the modern day, guitar-driven power pop movement, both as a solo artist and as part of a duo with Susanna Hoffs of The Bangles. Now Matthew has released his twelfth solo studio album, Tomorrow Forever, and is on the road with another power pop maestro, Tommy Keene.

One of the early interviews I did for WFUV was with Matthew back in 1991 when he was promoting Girlfriend. Over the years, I've had the pleasure of speaking with him numerous times and, as a result, a friendship developed. Needless to say, I was thrilled to once again catch up with Matthew to talk about Tomorrow Forever, and he also performed some of the new songs in Studio A joined by guitarist Jason Victor.
