Lyrics for your Tombstone

by Corny O'Connell | 10/30/2024 | 5:00am

It's that time of year when decorative tombstones appear on front yards and stoops. If you could inscribe your actual grave marker with a lyric from a song, what would you choose? We'll spin a set. To keep me from an early grave, include the artist, song title and lyric, thanks.

Hear your requests weekdays after 9 a.m.
Today's set:

  • Leonard Cohen "Bird on a Wire" Like a bird on the wire, like a drunk in a midnight choir, I have tried in my way to be free
  • Jimmy Cliff "The Harder they Come" I'd rather be a free man in my grave Than living as a puppet or a slave
  • John Denver "Take Me Home, Country Roads" Country roads, take me home To the place I belong West Virginia, mountain mama Take me home, country roads.
  • Willie Nelson with Snoop Dogg, Kris Kristofferson, Jamey Johnson "Roll Me Up" Roll me up and smoke me when I die
