Two of New York's fine female singer-songwriters were my guests in Studio A. Long Islander Kirsten Maxwell has been winning awards for her beautiful soprano voice, often compared to Joan Baez's or Judy Collins's. She will be part of On Your Radar on Tuesday, March 8.
Sonya Heller, a veteran of the New York folk scene, grew up in a Russian family in Queens and now lives in the Catskills. Her songs, sometimes echoing Joni Mitchell or Laura Nyro, were so impressive at the February On Your Radar that I wanted to get her on the air to reach a wider audience.
