Joan Armatrading is back with a solid new album, a U.S. tour, and she could not be more well received! I've been a fan since I was in college in the early '80s (and then, of course, I went back to the amazing '70s albums).
Armatrading's songs have always found the words when I could not. In an instant, her songs can make you laugh, cry, and show some emotion. Her new album, Not Too Far Away, brings Armatrading's gift for melody, outstanding guitar skills, and unmistakable voice to the forefront of songs that all tie to matters of the heart. Once again, she plays all of the instruments on this album.
In this FUV Live conversation, we'll hear some stories behind the songs, learn of her process of writing and recording, and get to know this songwriting legend a bit more.
