GOP Council Members Back Lhota for Mayor

Joe Lhota' s campaign for New York City mayor is picking up steam.

Former MTA Chairman Joe Lhota has the support of the New York City Council's GOP delegation in his race to be the next mayor.

The delegation is made up of four Council Members including James Oddo, Vincent Ignizio, Dan Holloran, and Eric Ulrich.

Lhota said he's promised his supporters a vigorous debate on the issues during his campaign.

Economic development, crime reduction, reorganizing the government, and getting the budget under control are some of the issues Lhota mentioned he'll be focusing on during the primaries.

Ulrich said he's concerned about the future of the city, but Lhota is the man to steer it in the right direction.

"There is no doubt in my mind that out of all the Republicans that are running to be the next mayor of New York City that Joe Lhota is the most experienced, most qualified, most articulate, and he is definitely the best one to lead New York for the next 8 years," said Ulrich, "He speaks his mind, he doesn't care what the polls say.

Other Republican candidates include supermarket mogul John Catsimatidis and George McDonald, founder of a non-profit organization for the homeless.
