In the spirit of music discovery which guides WFUV, our DJs offer their favorite new artists on the cusp of making it to the next level.

"I got no soul cuz country music to me sounds like rock 'n' roll." So sings Australian newcomer Fraser A. Gorman on his debut album, Slow Gum. The album is filled with well-crafted songs in the classic songwriter tradition with a touch of twang, but it's his sense of that humor that puts a unique and personal stamp on them.

Gorman's connection to another favorite (and clever!) songwriter, Courtney Barnett (who added him to the Australian label Milk! Records) has gotten him some notice, but it's his talent that is winning people over.
