The Kennedys/Red Molly: November 1, 2007
I've enjoyed many sessions with both The Kennedys (long-time friends of FUV) and Red Molly (the trio formed at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival in 2004), but have special fondness for this 2007 session when Pete and Maura Kennedy joined Abbie Gardner, Laurie McAllister, and Carolann Solebello in the studio, just as Red Molly was gaining popularity. They did some songs separately and then joined forces for an awesome jam on "Matty Groves."
Over The Rhine: March 31, 2011
I've been longtime fan of Linford Detweiler's literate lyrics and Karin Bergquist's sultry vocals, but hadn't had a chance to interview them. When the opportunity arose to do something around "The Long Surrender," one of my favorite albums of 2011, I jumped at it. They came to the studio with a bass player and drummer, and they didn't disappoint, as they performed several songs from the album and explained their creative process with producer Joe Henry.

Susan Werner: January 15, 2009
Interviewing Susan is like playing tennis with someone just a little better than you; it makes you raise your game, because she's so smart, fast, and funny. I treasure every conversation we've ever had, but single out this one when she brought cellist Julia Beiber to perform songs from her creative 2009 album, "Classics," in which she recorded classic pop and rock songs with chamber music arrangements. Bruce Cockburn: November 21, 2006
Is anyone more articulate about music and social justice than Bruce Cockburn? He doesn't just talk the talk, he walks the walk. In this interview from 2006 he describes what it's like to be in danger spots like Baghdad, the times he's felt close to God, and what he does to chill out when he finally gets home. He also plays a couple of songs from Life Short, Call Now and a gorgeous version of "Pacing the Cage." Bruce Cockburn - Words and Music - 2006
