Craig Finn + Kathleen Edwards: Q&A

It was a delight to have both Craig Finn and Kathleen Edwards drop by during my evening show recently for some conversation and to play some of their favorite artists on the radio.
The two friends met just a couple of years ago at the Sing Us Home Festival in Philly. Since then, as Kathleen said, they’ve gone from strangers to family. They’ve toured on two continents together and she sang backing vocals on about a half a dozen songs on Finn's 2025 album, Always Been.
At the Bowery Ballroom show the week of their visit, Edwards did her own set and was part of a supergroup backing up Finn — which also included The War on Drugs' Adam Granduceil, who produced and played on Finn's new album.
In addition to hearing two selections from Finn's Always Been on this show, we got to do a world premiere of Edwards' song, “Save Your Soul," from her new album, Billionaire, released August 22 and co-produced by Jason Isbell, who also contributed guitar playing. His involvement was spurred on by Edwards' interpretation of Isbell’s “Traveling Along” on her 2025 Covers album, which also featured tunes originally recorded by R.E.M., John Prine, Tom Petty, and others.
During their visit, Finn and Edwards chose songs by artists like Randy Newman and Warren Zevon and shared how they’ve been inspired by them. It was a rare opportunity to shoot the breeze with a pair of great artists and old friends.
