Combatting HIV/AIDS Disparities
Community Dialogues is a program for frank discussions about race, racism, and racial justice.
Our guest in this episode is Dr. Barry Zingman, a specialist in infectious diseases at Montefiore Medical Center. Dr. Zingman is the director of the HIV program and creates sexual health services, HIV services, and LGBTQ services around the Bronx and local areas.
Approximately one in four new HIV diagnoses in New York City occur among Bronx residents, with most newly diagnosed individuals identifying as Black or Hispanic. We spoke about the new grant being awarded to Montefiore to address this disparity.
