Christmas' Gift to Street Vendors

The cold weather isn't deterring any customers.

The Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center just went up on Friday, so it's the beginning of the holiday season for some. And this means a lot more business for street vendors in the area.

Vendors like Magdy Shahin, who owns a halal cart on 50th and 6th, are looking foward to all the tourists that will be coming to the city for the Christmas season.

"More people, more crowds, more shows at Radio City... December is the best time for business," Shahin said.

But some vendors like Harry Tsikitas, who has a breakfast cart in the same area, say Christmas doesn't help them that muh.

"Very little more than before... but the lunch trucks... they are more busy and they stay open extra hours."

Once the tree is lit on December 3rd, these lunch trucks are expecting to really get busy.
