Chet Faker
This Australian artist with the memorable name specializes in what you might call "baby-making music." His sound is dreamy and romantic, his songs are melodic and beautiful. Chet Faker, whose real name is Nick Murphy, took the pseudonym as homage to one of his big influences, Chet Baker. He's a gifted songwriter, and although he's mostly seen as an electronica artist, his songs hold up to acoustic performances. He's already a big star at home Down Under; let's see if 2015 brings him more US fans. (Rita Houston)
