In my opinion, West Coast songwriter Cass McCombs is a bit of a genius. For his ninth album, Tip of the Sphere, he weaves various music styles around his poetic ambitious lyrics. The new album was recorded here in New York and proudly shows some of McCombs' classic influences, like the Grateful Dead and Lou Reed.

Over the years, McCombs has worked with Blake Mills, Karen Black, Angel Olsen and others. He is also a man of few words in conversation — seeming to prefer to let the music speak for itself — so we have McCombs' full band in Studio A to do the talking for this FUV Live session.
