This interview is part of WFUV’s "Strike a Chord" public service campaign which highlights local nonprofits who advocate for different topics important to the tri-state community. This season, WFUV is showcasing nonprofits that provide access to music and arts education.

Students in the South Bronx are starting to explore photography and filmmaking at the Bronx Documentary Center, a local nonprofit that makes the arts more accessible in the borough through free courses and by teaching media literacy.

"What we're really teaching is life skills and research skills that can apply to anything,” said founder Mike Kamber. "We have a lot of students that will go into many other fields, but we're helping to give them a sound foundation for whatever it is that they do, as they move into an academic environment."
