Bloomberg: Nation in Crisis after Another Massacre
After another deadly shooting over the weekend - this time in Wisconsin - Mayor Bloomberg says federal officials should be in emergency mode. Six people were killed at a Sikh temple near Milwaukee on Sunday. The shooter was also later killed by police.
While addressing the Sikh Cultural Society in Queens Monday, Mayor Bloomberg said Congress needs to pass strict gun control laws immediately.
"The fact that criminals, terrorists, and other mentally ill all have easy access to guns is a national crisis," Bloomberg said.
Bloomberg also offered his condolences to the Sikh members of the crowd. He said every American is entitled to feel safe in their community.
"No matter who you are, no matter where you're from, no matter what religion you profess, you have a right to be safe in your homes, in your places of worship."
Once again, Bloomberg urged the presidential candidates to release a detailed plan to cut down the gun violence.
