The first Belly album in 23 years is everything fans of their mid-'90s work could hope for. The songwriting on Dove is knowing and engaging, the performances are inspired and assured, and the production is sparkling.

A reunion, however, invites re-evaluation of a band’s entire body of work as well as the comeback album. Going back to Star and King, I found them to be not just as good as I remember them, but better.  These albums have aged well, just as the members of Belly have. Alright then, can they still bring it in a live performance? That question is answered positively and definitively in this recording captured at the Rockwood Music Hall on the Lower East Side.

Tanya Donelly has co-founded no fewer than three significant, much-loved bands in her remarkable career as she was a charter member of Throwing Muses and The Breeders, as well as Belly, which she formed with brothers Tom Gorman on guitar and Chris Gorman on drums. Bassist Gail Greenwood, who joined after the first album, completes this 2018 line-up, and her energy is as positive as her enthusiasm is contagious.

Enjoy the charisma, charm and craft of Belly in this FUV Live performance.
