The Asian American International Film Festival is an annual event that screens films and allows young filmmakers to collaborate with one another. It was founded by the nonprofit, Asian Cinevision, 48 years ago in the Lower East Side of Manhattan.

I met with two of the program’s coordinators, Kristopher Montello and Jackson Lee, to hear more about Asian representation in the film industry and what attendees can expect at the festival.

The event is holding screenings online and at the Regal Theater in Union Square until August 10.
