40 years ago (August 8, 1969) John Lennon led Ringo Starr, Paul McCartney, and George Harrison across the zebra crossing outside Abbey Road Studios in North London to be photographed by Iain MacMillan. That shot became the album cover for Abbey Road which was released the following month. It became one of the most talked-about album covers of all time. Why was John wearing white?
