Paul McCartney - The Second Show at Citi Field, Saturday, July 18, 2009

He did it again! Paul McCartney rocked a jubilant Citi Field for the second consecutive night last night. I am now fairly certain that these two shows were probably the best performances I have ever seen put on by McCartney. The show was set up the same as Friday’s show. The set list was the same. Billy Joel, a guest on Friday, was not there last night and there weren’t any other special guests that performed with Paul. In one touching moment from Saturday night, Paul was clearly getting choked up as he sang his song for John Lennon, “Here Today”. His voice was cracking a lot and his eyes were getting watery.

After sitting in great seats Friday night - field level, center (in short centerfield) - I had to settle for seats in the left field corner Saturday night. But, again, I was on the field. If you know Citi Field, I was close to the Mets’ retired numbers that are on the outfield wall in left field.

Toward the end of the show, Mets owner Fred Wilpon walked in front of me. I almost yelled out to him, “Sell the team!!!”, but the best I could do was smile and wave. He waved back. If he only knew what I thought about the Jackie Robinson Rotunda in Citi Field!

Paul wraps up his three nights at Citi Field this Tuesday, July 21. Of course, I will be there!
