The Decemberists at SXSW

The Decemberists premiered their new work at SXSW to a packed, adoring crowd at Stubbs. The new album, The Hazards of Love, as you have probably heard, is a rock opera. It is a sweeping, dramatic, theatrical, ambitious, piece. It was amazing to watch the crowd hear this music for the first time. Colin was in great voice tackling this sometimes challenging material. The two female voices stole the show--Lavendar Diamond chickie and My Brightest Diamond chickie--awesome.

Good news for those not here--the tapes were rolling (thank you NPR Music) and we’re bringing it home to you tomorrow night starting at 7p. Heartless Bastards, Avett Brothers and The Decemberists and then some more highlights including Blk Jcks, Blind Pilot and more.
