roo check in

Hey Ya’ll,

Alisa Checkin in from Bonnaroo.  Its Friday night right now.  Metallica is headlining tonight.  They are on right now.  I’ve decided to award myself some downtime during their set so that I can make it through to the late night sets.  I can hear them playing Nothing Else Matters now.  The crowd is singing along with the chorus really loudly.  I had no idea that Metallica were still so big.  Anyway - Tonight’s late night is My Morning Jacket.  They are on 12 to 3am and then there will be more music on another stage till at least 4 and I want to be in good shape for that.

I am so ridiculously excited for late night MMJ - I just cant even tell you!  I am a huge fan and they rock my socks.  Their new album is amazing too so Im psyched to see them perform their new songs.   I’ll try to check in post MMJ and give you the post game wrap up on that if I can - but what I can share with you now are a few highlights so far.  And here they are:

I danced my face off to a band called “!!!” ! They were awesome.  The lead singer has some very inspiring dance moves - And if you ever see me dance you’ll notice that I’ve adopted some of his moves into my own dance repertoire.  The band is also known as chk chk chk or any other sound repeated three times - so it could be: boom boom boom or eep eep eep or yo yo yo - whatever you like.  It was the most fun I’ve had since I’ve been here - and thats saying alot since there have been really good times had already.  Some favorite moments include:

singing at the at the top of my lungs with the felice brothers and the rest of the crowd during the closing number of their set- Frankie’s Gun at the vampire weekend seeing someone show throw their crutches in the air like they just didn’t care.  Hallelujah! It was a miracle.  Stand and be healed!

Making friends with a someone who wanted to make a chalk outline of a body on the ground - nypd style - but with Parmesan cheese.

Randomly bumping into people I know within a crowd of about 90,000.  This happened several times and each time - it feels like the 1st time.

And Laughing myself to tears - in the warm rain - at the Chris Rock set.

So more good times to be had for sure.  I’ll check in again and let you know more later.

-Alisa

Post Script: Someone just set off a bunch of fire works.  Pretty Pink Colors are filling the dark sky now.  I’m gonna start bringing fireworks with me from now on- it really lifts the spirits.
