David Sanborn on WFUV
What a thrill this past Thursday (May 1) to welcome the great David Sanborn to the WFUV studios! David played the Music Hall in Tarrytown last night and just finished a gig tonight in Huntington at the Inter-Media Art Center. I’ve been a fan of David’s since the late 1980s when he was hosting the great music show “Sunday Night”, later to be renamed “Night Music”, on NBC. The first time I was exposed to his music was with his 1988 album Close-Up. David’s new album, his first for Decca Records, will be called Here And Gone and will be released in August. It will feature special guests Derek Trucks, Eric Clapton, Joss Stone and Sam Moore.
During the interview, we played a few songs from his upcoming album, his cover of Ornette Coleman’s “Ramblin’” (from his 1992 album Upfront) and two songs he played saxophone on - David Bowie’s “Young Americans” and “Your Party” by Ween.
Soon, you will be able to hear the interview with David in the archives on our website.
