Name your price Radiohead!

Really cool news:

1. Radiohead has a new album

2. this is the part that is really gonna blow your mind - you can only buy the record from their website - who needs a record company these days anyway, eh? I know you are thinking ok, so yeah what is so special about this?  Well smartypants, THIS is what is so special...They are allowing you to pay whatever you want for the music.  Yeah.  seriously.  You enter the amount that you would like to pay.  This is for the digital download of the album.  They are also offering a pretty sweet box set that comes with 2 cds, vinyl, artwork, lyric booklet and of course you also get the digital download as well.  This sweet little package costs about $80 but I would say its worth it.

(By the way, you can only pre order now.  Downloads begin Oct.10 and the box sets will be mailed out in early Dec.)

Obviously the really remarkable thing is the pay whatever you want part of this story.  THAT is something special and I will pay for the album.

I think this is a really smart way of dealing with pirating issues, record company drama, and music ethics in general.  They may not be the 1st to offer their music this way, but I think its a pretty bold and exciting.

Could be the start of a whole new movement?
