Williamsburg Officials Urge Mayor de Blasio to Complete Park

New York City and private developers are bidding for a plot of land in Brooklyn. Eleven years ago the city promised to build a 27-acre park in Williamsburg, but the owner of that space, Norman Bodsky, hasn't accepted the city's $100 million offer. In a letter to Mayor de Blasio, Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) said Bodsky has received higher bids.

Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams said it could take eminent domain to acquire the parcel to create a public space for Brooklyn residents. In other words, New York City officials may need to appropriate the land so that it can be used for public use.

Lawmakers backing the completion of the park introduced a bill that would track the promises city hall makes to communities.
