Report Says Bronx Expressway is Most Congested Road in the Nation

A recent study names the Cross Bronx Expressway the most congested roadway in the nation, which has Bronx residents fuming about the continued health impacts.

Just a stone's throw away from Parkchester's tiny Virginia Playground is the raging Cross Bronx Expressway, which brings a lot of trucks to the area.

For local residents, that can be a health issue. The CDC says car fumes can trigger asthma attacks. And that's something twenty-seven year old Julyanni Adorno and her two children have dealt with the past seven years. That's how long her family has lived near the Expressway.

"It's horrible. You don't know when you might have an attack," said Adorno, "Even the slightest thing may agitate you and you get a trigger. Then, you get an asthma attack."

Mayor de Blasio says he's going to announce a plan to fix the problem. And for longtime residents like Emily Quinones, that change can't come soon enough. She says she's worried about her son growing up with asthma.

"When he goes to school, will he even be able to play outside?" said Quinones.
