Report Highlights Flooding Concerns In NYC
New York City lawmakers are calling for a bigger investment in the waterfront following the release of the Harbor Score Card.
The report details what areas are the most vulnerable to floods. Annette Fisher, a spokeswomen for the Coney Island Beautification Project, said there will be consquences if infrastructure doesn't improve.
"What about the people who aren't here to speak today?" Fisher asked. "[What about the people] who are going to go bankrupt and whose houses are going to be foreclosed on? We need to get [President] Trump to wake up."
According to the Waterfront Alliance, more than 400,000 New Yorkers face a 50 percent risk of a major flood by 2060. The report says Coney Island is the most at risk for a flood followed by The Rockaways in Queens.
