Madame Tousaud's & Ripley's Believe it or Not Present the World's Longest Feather Boa

New York City was crowned the home of the world’s longest feather boa by Guinness World Records.

Organized by Madame Tussaud’s and Ripley’s Believe It Or Not, the 5,808 foot rainbow boa was created in honor of World Pride NYC. The event was emceed by Shangela, famous for A Star is Born and RuPaul’s Drag Race.

When the moment arrived for the boa – which is more than four times the height of the Empire State Building and the equivalent of 25 city blocks – to be unveiled, a team of drag queens representing The Ride strutted to the stage.

One of them, Nasty Queen, said the event means a lot more than just a record.

“I think is amazing,” she said, “because it’s like in the middle of Times Square, there’s press, it’s going everywhere. It’s to show how you need to have pride for who you are.”

World Pride NYC is the first time the organization has chosen to celebrate Pride Month in the United States. 2019 marks the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots.
