Rooftop beekeeping has become more popular in recent years in many urban cities. Cities like Boston, Detroit, Chicago, Berlin, London, Bristol, and more are all hubs for urban beekeeping. New York City didn't legalize it until 2010, but Andrew Cote, beekeeper and owner of Andrew's Honey, says that New York City has a long history of beekeeping on city rooftops. Andrew's Honey is a local New York City honey company that has hives across the five boroughs. WFUV/Cityscape host Isabel Danzis went to go visit Cote at his honey stand at the Union Square Greenmarket to learn more about the history of beekeeping in the city.
