Morning Brief: October 1
New York City residents may want to start gearing up for some bad weather. A tropical storm off the east coast has been upgraded to hurricane status, and is expected to hit Staten Island and (to a slightly lesser degree) the rest of the boroughs early next week. The storm, named Joaquin, is expected to bring a foot of rain and possible heavy flooding. And while the damage isn’t expected to be as intense as it was during Hurricane Sandy, the Weather Service is cautioning New Yorkers to stay updated on the storm’s path.
