Morning Brief: July, 8

New Yorkers last evening gathered to protest the fatal shootings of Philando Castile and Alton Sterling. Castile, an African-American, was shot by a police officer in Falcon Heights, Minnesota when reaching for his wallet at a stop sign. Sterling, also an African-American, was shot by a police officer when he was outside of a convenience store in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Dozens were arrested last night at the protest, which began at Union Store. Traffic came to a standstill at major areas like the Lincoln Tunnel. [full article]
