Morning Brief: July 23

The de Blasio administration decided today to drop its plan that would have placed a cap on the amount of licensed Uber drivers in the city. The administration says it will conduct a four-month study on Uber’s effects on the city, and whether the cars do in fact lead to traffic congestion. The taxi industry has been pushing the de Blasio administration to crack down on Uber. According to the New York Times, since the city, for now, is not going to place a cap on the number of Uber cars, it is asking Uber to release data about its car service.
