Morning Brief: April 1
Just hours ahead of their midnight deadline, New York State lawmakers in Albany emerged from talks last night with a hard-won agreement on the 2016-17 state budget. Gov. Andrew Cuomo seemed pleased with the deal, which likely includes his signature wage increase (from $9 to $15 per hour statewide). He called the new budget the “best budget we've ever crafted.” Lawmakers stayed up through the night, technically missing the midnight deadline, to vote on bills.
