Lawmakers, Advocates, Elected Officials Team Up To Help Immigrants

The newly-formed New York Immigration Assistance Consortium plans to help immigrants in New York fully benefit from the potential change.

Legal service providers, community groups, and state and local government officials are joining forces to help New York's immigrants make the most of their relief opportunities.
The New York Assistance Consortium will assist immigrants with submitting legal documents allowing them to stay in the country.

"These individuals who are going to benefit are adding to the community,” said Neena Dutta, the Chair of the New York Branch of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and part of the consortium. “They have been coming to us for years and years asking, ‘How can I follow the law? How can I become legal?’ And there just hasn't been… opportunity, or an application.”
