Cuomo Hits the Road for $15 Minimum Wage
Governor Cuomo is literally hitting the road to gain support for a statewide $15 minimum wage in New York.
The Governor has embarked on his "Drive for $15" tour, where he will travel across New York urging constituents to support his $15 an hour minimum wage plan. He is traveling in a decorated custom RV, which he calls the Justice mobile.
On Tuesday, the tour stopped in the Bronx, where the Governor spoke on the importance of the higher wage.
“We’re going to say, ‘work pays’, we’re going to say, ‘people who work should be treated with dignity and respect,” The Governor said, “Give them a new wage that actually allows them to raise a family, and that’s $15 an hour.”
Under Cuomo's plan, wages will be raised in phases to $15 an hour by 2018.
