Coney Island To Celebrate Opening Weekend

This weekend, Coney Island will be buzzing as businesses and rides open for the season. Dick Zigun is the founder of the arts nonprofit Coney Island USA. But he's better known as the unofficial mayor of Coney Island. And he says Coney Island is coming back strong with more to offer than ever.

"There's a lot of excitement left in Coney Island, a lot of new things. People should definitely come out, bring the kids, and have a great time."

Zigun says many new restaurants and attractions are opening this year, and he hopes this will show visitors just how much Coney Island is regaining its former glory.

Visitors this weekend can check out a magic show, take a ride on the 90-year-old Cyclone rollercoaster, and enjoy a Brooklyn eggcream. The festivities kick off at 10 am Sunday at Luna Park.
