Bloomberg Brushes Off Booing
Mayor Bloomberg is brushing off the mixed response he received this weekend at the Queens County St. Patrick's Day Parade.
Although the Mayor was booed by some Queens parade goers, he said at a press conference Monday that he isn't concerned by the upset.
"When somebody yells at you, you look to the side and you'll see ten or fifteen other people giving you thumbs up," Bloomberg said. "The right to protest is something built in. I've been in lots of parades where they have cheered; I've been in parades where they've booed."
Jeering spectators were reportedly upset over the Mayor's call to overturn seniority-based teacher layoffs, the city's response to this winter's snow storms and the budget-based decision to shorten all parade routes.
