“If she wasn’t so good, she’d look like an actress fronting a side project,” says Austin 360.
Well, she is that good.
Ohio-born and Austin-based Heartless Bastards (@HeartlessBstrds) has gone through some lineup changes, but the heart of the band is Erika Wennerstrom. She writes the songs for the four of them to flesh out together, and it’s her big voice that’ll echo in your head.
The most recent Heartless Bastards album is their fourth, Arrow. Joining Erika (vocals/guitar/piano) are Jesse Ebaugh (bass), Dave Colvin (drums), and Mark Nathan (guitar). They’ve been touring hard since it came out last year.
They’ve done Austin City Limits, been on Letterman twice, and had a couple of songs and a cameo on Friday Night Lights (admit it, you watch it too). Trust us, now you’ve got to see them play live.
Watch: Here’s Heartless Bastards' Hotel San Jose big-stage SXSJ performance of “Got To Have Rock And Roll.”
