Conor Oberst - FUV Live - 2014

by Carmel Holt

As we gear up for our annual Holiday Cheer Concert happening on December 8th at The Beacon Theatre, we thought we’d revisit a recent session with our headliner, Conor Oberst.

Of course you know this prolific musician from his work with his bands, “Bright Eyes”, “Desaparecidos” and “Monsters of Folk” to name a few.  He’s also put out several albums as a solo artist. In fact, earlier this year he released his 6th solo record titled, Upside Down Mountain which we mader our New Dig during release week. Of the recent album, Oberst says “For me, language is a huge part of why I make music. I’m not the greatest guitar player or piano player—I’m not the greatest singer, either—but I feel if I can come up with melodies I like that are fused with poetry I’m proud of, then that’s what I bring to the table.” Tonight on FUV Live, I'll talk with the ever so humble Conor Oberst and we’ll also hear him perform some of the new songs for us live in Studio A.
