Baseball Insider Projects Future for Yankees and Mets

With the MLB season in full swing, we called upon ESPN Baseball Insider Jerry Crasnick for his thoughts on the season. Crasnick has been around the game for a long time having spent time as a beat reporter for the Cincinnati Reds and the Colorado Rockies.

Crasnick told Chris Marasco and me that he believes Mets right hander Matt Harvey has great potential to be an ace in this league. The ESPN insider was at Citi Field when Harvey outdueled fellow young flamethrower Stephen Strasburg. Crasnick credited veteran John Buck for Harvey’s early season success.

Staying in New York, Crasnick told the program that the Yankees now more than ever need production from their rotation. With Francisco Cervelli and Kevin Youkalis headed to the DL, the ESPN baseball columnist says that the onus falls on CC Sabathia and Phil Hughes.
