Sen. Schumer advocating visas for Poles.
A bill in Washington would waive the need for Polish visitors to obtain visas before visiting the United States.
Sen. Charles Schumer, a New York Democrat, says Poland is the only country whose troops are fighting alongside American soldiers in Afghanistan whose citizens can't visit America without undergoing a time-consuming visa process.
His bill would allow Poles to visit American with a simple passport, like citizens from two dozen other allies.
The bill is part of a larger measure to encourage tourism from abroad.
The Polish American Congress group has long sought to exclude Poland from the visa program.
